Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Loses Deputy To Illness

Dfc Olander passed away Thurs. morning.

Frederick, Md. (KM) – It’s a sad day for the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office which lost one of its deputies. . Officials say early Thursday morning, Deputy First Class Kenny Olander, 61, lost his battle with a recent illness.

“It is with profound sadness that I have to share this bad news with our Frederick County family,” said Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, in a statement. “We have lost one of our own brothers who passed away peacefully this morning with his family by his side. Kenny has had a distinguished career with our agency and was a very dedicated professional who proudly wore our badge.”

He is a 32-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, serving in numerous capacities, including patrol operations deputy, school resource officer and community deputy for Myersville, his most recent  assignment.

Deputy Olander is survived his wife Samantha, and his children Bailey, Hugh and Sophia.

Funeral plans are being finalized.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public and the media to respect the privacy of the Olander family at this difficult time.
