She was found with her two children.
Frederick, Md. (KM) – A Frederick woman was arrested this week in connection with a child custody dispute in Texas. The Sheriff’s Office says Amanda Lynn Shaw, 32, was taken into custody ,and is being held at the Detention Center awaiting extradition.
Authorities say Shaw was granted custody of her two children in December, 2021, under a divorce decree. Shortly afterward, she refused to return custody of the kids age eight an nine to her former spouse, and even told him he would never see the children again.
In April, 2022, a court in Harris County, Texas awarded custody of the children to Shaw’s former spouse, and denied her custody of and access to her kids. Harris County issued an arrest warrant for Shaw, charging her with interfering with child custody, and her two children’s names were entered into a national mission persons database which listed them as critically missing.
The Sheriff’s Office in Harris County, Texas contacted the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office last week, and said they had good information that Shaw was in the Frederick area. The local Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit took over the case.
On Wednesday afternoon, July 6th, detectives saw Shaw and her children at a home on Ironsides Drive in Frederick. A short time later she left the home with the children and took them to a restaurant located in the 5000 block of Buckeystown Pike. That’s where authorities met up with her, and took her into custody.
Deputies safely recovered the two children and returned them to their father who flew in from Texas later that day.
