Salvation Army Helping Families And Individuals In Frederick

The Red Kettle campaign begins Nov. 11, volunteers wanted.

Frederick, Md. (BW)- The Salvation Army helps millions of families around the nation, including Frederick, each year.

The local organization is looking for volunteers to help with its annual Red Kettle campaign, which begins Nov. 11.

Volunteers will be stationed outside of grocery stores and on street corners ringing bells and collecting money. Anyone can volunteer to help with the campaign.

The Salvation Army’s mission is to help the less fortunate in local communities by providing meals, clothes and other essentials.

Salvation Army Major Kelly English said that volunteering makes a real difference.

All funds raised go right back to supporting the community in homeless shelters, addiction centers, soup kitchens and more.

“… time is extremely valuable and you better believe it does have an impact,” English said.

The red kettle campaign began in 1891 and runs each year during the holiday season.

Registration to volunteer can be found on the Register to Ring website. Volunteers can sign up induvidually or with a group.

The Salvation Army is a church and charitable organization that is headquartered in London and is present all over the world.
