Two People Arrested On Drug Trafficking Charges In Frederick County

One has been charged with CDS drug kingpin.

Myersville, Md. (NS) – A routine traffic stop in Myersville ended with two arrests for drug trafficking.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said at around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, a Deputy saw a vehicle on Route 70 being driven by someone known to have a revoked driver’s license.

The vehicle pulled into a gas station, and the driver switched places with a passenger before heading back onto Route 70 westbound.

A routine traffic stop was conducted, and the Deputy saw drug-related materials in one of the car’s door handles.

During a search, Deputies seized over 325 grams of a fentanyl/heroin mix and more than 15 grams of cocaine.

Alaura Snyder, 28, and John Smith Jr, 32, both of Westernport, Maryland were taken into custody and transferred to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on various drug trafficking related charges.

Snyder is facing 12 charges:

  • Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) possession – large amount (2x)
  • CDS possession with intent to distribute narcotics (2x)
  • CDS possession not marijuana (3x)
  • CDS possession paraphernalia
  • Distribution/possession with intent to distribute CDS fentanyl/heroin
  • False statement to an officer
  • CDS drug kingpin (2x)

Smith Jr. is facing 9 charges:

  • CDS possession – large amount (2x)
  • CDS possession with intent to distribute narcotics (2x)
  • CDS possession not marijuana (3x)
  • CDS possession paraphernalia
  • Distribution/possession with intent to distribute CDS fentanyl/heroin

The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says Smith was ordered held without bond. Snyder’s bail review hearing has been postponed.
