Suspect In Fatal Stabbing In Hagerstown Turns Himself In To Police

He is currently behind bars at the Washington County Detention Center.Hagerstown, Md (KM) A man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing late last year in Hagerstown has turned himself in. Police say Joshua Kohutiak, 21, is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center.Authorities Joshua Kohutiak and his brother, Jacob, are charged with the stabbing of Octovial Taft in front the Washington County Free Library in the 100 block of East Antietam Street on November 26th, 2022. Taft was taken to Meritus Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He was released sometime after that. But the victim returned to Meritus on December 15th, and transferred to University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore where he underwent surgery again. He died the next day.The Maryland State Medical Examiner said Taft’s death was attributed to complications from his initial stabbing.The charges against the twin brothers were upgraded to 1st- and 2nd-degree murder. Jacob Kohutiak was arrested shortly after the stabbing in November, 2022.By Kevin McManus
