Chambersburg, PA (DG) – A U.S. Army soldier has died following a training incident at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Franklin County. Authorities say the incident happened Thursday morning around 9:30 during training activities at the installation.
Officials say the soldier was injured at the depot and received medical care on site before being transported to WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital. Despite those efforts, the service member later died from the injuries.
Military officials say the installation remains secure and there is no threat to the surrounding community.
The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is now investigating what led to the fatal training incident.
