Children were taken from their family’s home in February.

Frederick, Md. (NS) – A Frederick man who was arrested for kidnapping two children from their father’s home in Frederick has been found incompetent to stand trial.

After an evaluation by Dr. Julie Smith from the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), Judge Kathleen English ordered Christopher Schultz, 40, be transferred to an MDH facility and scheduled a status hearing for August 24.

On February 26, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 8200 block of Reich’s Ford Road after a father reported that his children were forcibly removed from his home.

The father and police followed Schultz until he stopped his vehicle in a business parking lot.

Investigators found that Schultz had no relation or rights to the children and police placed him into custody.

He was charged with abduction, kidnapping, false imprisonment, home invasion, burglary, trespassing, and second-degree assault.
