Known nationwide as “America’s Digital Goddess,” Kim Komando is one of the most trusted voices in consumer technology and the host of The Kim Komando Show, the largest weekend radio talk show about digital life in the United States.
Every week, Kim helps millions of listeners make sense of the ever-changing tech landscape. From protecting your privacy and avoiding scams to discovering helpful apps and understanding artificial intelligence, Kim breaks down complicated topics in a way that’s easy to understand — whether you’re tech-savvy or just trying to keep up.
Her 3-hour call-in show airs on 420+ radio stations nationwide and is also heard globally on Armed Forces Radio, reaching listeners in 177 countries.
Kim’s passion for technology started early. Raised in New Jersey, she began using computers at just 9 years old, inspired by her mother who worked as a systems analyst at Bell Laboratories. By 19, Kim had already graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems, later working for tech giants IBM and Unisys.
In 1992, recognizing a growing need for consumer-friendly tech advice, Kim left the corporate world and launched a late-night computer call-in show in Phoenix. What started as a local program quickly grew into a national brand. Along with her husband Barry Young, Kim built WestStar MultiMedia Entertainment, producing her nationally syndicated shows and digital platforms from a 24,000-square-foot broadcast facility in Phoenix.
Beyond radio, Kim is a longtime USA Today technology columnist, a former host of The Kim Komando Television Show on Bloomberg TV, and the founder of one of the internet’s most trusted tech resources, Komando.com.
At https://www.Komando.com, millions of readers every month find breaking tech news, in-depth guides, security alerts, and newsletters like “The Current.” It’s a one-stop hub for everything you need to stay informed in the digital age.
Kim’s mission has always been simple: make technology understandable, useful, and safe for everyone. Rather than focusing only on technical troubleshooting, she helps people navigate their digital lifestyle, from protecting their data to getting the most out of the devices they use every day.
Her impact on broadcasting and technology journalism has earned widespread recognition, including induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame (2021), the Gracie Award for Outstanding Program Host, and Talkers Magazine’s Woman of the Year.
