They support qualifying seniors by providing financial resources and services.

Frederick, Md. (NS) – Low-income seniors in Frederick County have a resource to help them with any need they have.

Leslie Schultz, Executive Director of SOAR, said there is a lot to be done.

“Seniors are the largest growing population. I think right now if you look at the statistics, they may very well exceed children in the public school system in Frederick County. So the need is out there. The need is great,” said Schultz.

She explained that her organization comes alongside residents of the county who are over 65-years-old and meet certain financial criteria to provide resources and assistance to help them navigate obstacles that come their way.

Eligible seniors have to make less than $2,100 a month as an individual or $3,000 as a couple.

SOAR has a website you can use to learn more information.

“Any information can be found at SOARFrederick.org. You can request assistance online, you can read about the organization and some of our success stories and you can certainly refer a senior to us for assistance,” she added.

On May 16th from 9 am until 2 pm, SOAR will be hosting a Senior Resource and Education Fair to provide free resources and information.
