Around 7,000 people are expected to attend.

Frederick, Md. (NS) – After several years, the annual Frederick Running Festival is back! Lee Corrigan, President of Corrigan Sports Enterprises in Baltimore said competitors will hit the streets between April 30 and May 1 on a familiar course.

“It will definitely be at the same location. Start and finish right there at the Frederick Fairgrounds which is great and of course it will feature downtown, get up through Hood College, and then back down the backside of Schifferstadt and on the way back to the Frederick Fairgrounds,” said Corrigan.

Runners from 4 countries and 45 different states are expected at the event.

Corrigan said this year there is a special fund raiser for Frederick Police Lieutenant Stew Alcorn and the “What Would Stew Dew Fund.”

“The Police Chief, who is a big advocate for the City of Frederick of course and loves his guys, he’s going to be running, and we’ve created a charity chaser aspect and he is going to be running along with Officer Tony Lawson,” he said.

Lawson will run the first 10 miles and Lando will run the last 3. Corrigan Sports will donate a dollar for every person that team passes during the race.

The “What Would Stew Dew Fund” raises money to support causes including assisting first responders and advocating for children.

Lieutenant Stew Alcorn, who served in the Frederick City Police, died unexpectedly in August last year.
