Frederick, Md. (KM) – The Frederick County Animal Control Division has a new director. In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the County Council appointed David Luckenbaugh to the post. He succeeds Linda Shay who has retired.
As Director, Luckenbaugh will oversee Animal Control and the Pet Adoption Center.
He began his time with Frederick County Animal Control in 1992 as a kennel technician,. and served as an animal control officer for three years in Howard County before coming back to Frederick County in 1998. Over the past 25 years, Luckenbaugh has served as Senior Animal Control Officer, Sergeant and Supervisor and Deputy Division Director. He was appointed Acting Director in January, 2022.
“Dave has done an outstanding job as interim director,” says County Executive Jan Gardner, in a statement. “He is dedicated to the welfare of animals and their owners, and he is well respected by his staff. I am confident Dave will excel in his new role.”
