Man and Woman Charged With Death Of 5-Year-Old Boy In Hagerstown

The woman is the boy’s mother.

Hagerstown, Md. (KM) – Charges have been filed against a man and a woman in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says Timothy Lee Haseldon, 33, of Williamsport, was arrested and charged with 1st-degree child abuse resulting in death, 1st- and 2nd-degree rape, 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, child abuse by a custodian, child abuse causing severe physical injury, neglect of a minor and sex abuse of a minor..

Authorities also say the boy’s mother, Catherine Thrasher, 30, of Hagerstown, is charged with child abuse resulting in death, 1st-and 2nd-degree assault, 1st-degree child abuse causing severe physical injury, sex abuse of a minor, 2nd-degree child abuse by a custodian, and neglect of a minor.

Both Haselden and Thrasher  are being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond.

The Sheriff’s Office says on Friday at 2:35 PM,  it responded  to 11877 White Pine Drive for an unconscious child. Medics attempted life saving measures on the boy. He was transported to Meritus Medical Center and then to Children’s National Hospital in Washington D-C where he was pronounced dead. The child’s body was turned over to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Washington DC for an autopsy.

Detectives also says there were two other minor children in the home at the time. A two-year-old boy was also taken to Children’s National Hospital, and has since been released. There was also a three-year-old girl in the home at the time. Both Children are in the custody of the Washington County Department of Social Services.

The investigation into this case is continuing.
