Crash On I-70 In Frederick County Kills 62-Year-Old Woman

The crash closed down I-70 for hours

New Market, Md. (DG) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman Sunday morning in Frederick County.

Shortly after 7:15 a.m. Troopers responded to a two vehicle accident on I-70 eastbound by the weight station in New Market.

Their preliminary investigation revealed Maraga Yonge was driving a Toyota RAV4 westbound on Interstate-70 when for unknown reasons, she crossed into the eastbound lanes and crashed into a Ford Escape. Yonge was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver Ford, 61-year-old Guanghao Zheng of Frederick, was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment of his injuries.

The Interstate was closed for nearly four hours.

The cause and contributing factors of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Maryland State Police.
