Taneytown, Md (KM) A Westminster man has been charged with a fatal hit and run in Carroll County over the weekend. The Sheriff’s Office say Timothy Lewis Carter, 34, was taken into custody, charged with manslaughter.
Authorities say on Saturday morning at 9:33, Sheriff’s deputies, Taneytown Police and fire and rescue responded to the area of Trevanion Road and Otterdale Mill Road for a pedestrian struck by an automobile. Emergency personnel tried to revive the victim, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The striking driver fled, heading toward Taneytown.
The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was arrested later that day through tips from the public, and the assistance from Taneytown Police and the Maryland State Police.
Carter is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center .
Authorities say he could be facing additional charges following the conclusion of an investigation, and consultations with the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office.
