Accident happened at the intersection of Harmony Road and Route 40
Frederick, Md. (DG) – A man is dead after an accident on Route 40 in Frederick County.
Maryland State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of Route 40 and Harmony Road at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
The crash occurred when 89-year-old Donald Frederick Reineke, of Frederick, was driving a Toyota Prius on Harmony Road and attempted to cross Route 40.
At the same time, a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, driven by 40-year-old John Michael Hartman Jr., of Frederick, was traveling through the intersection on Route 40 and the vehicles collided.
Reineke was pronounced dead at the scene. Hartman was transported to a hospital for his injuries.
The road was closed for three hours while police investigated the accident.
