VOTE DELAYED ON THE FUTURE OF MIDDLETOWN SCHOOLS

The plan is to merge elementary school students in same building as middle school kids.

FREDERICK, MD (LG) The plan to merge two schools in Middletown has been put on hold. This after the Frederick County School Board postponed a vote on Monday, giving the community more time to weigh in on its plans.

School officials say a feasibility study recommends building a new high school and then a second school that would combine the elementary and middle school students in one building.

The school district says elementary and middle school students would be separate from each other in the building and would not co-mingle. The arrangement has prompted some concerns.

A future discussion with school officials will be scheduled at a later date.
