Police Arrest 2 Men For Gun Fight In Frederick After Holiday Parade

Both men are convicted felons in violation of possessing guns


Frederick, Md. (DG) – Frederick Police have arrested two men involved in a gun fight last Friday night in the downtown area.

After the Kris Kringle parade ended around 8:20 PM, police responded to a call about two men in a fight with gunfire on South Market Street near West All Saints Street.

When a Frederick Police Officer arrived, he saw one of the suspects fleeing from the scene, and fired his gun at the man.

The other suspect discarded his firearm, raised his hands in the air, and was taken into custody without incident. He was identified as 50-year-old Atu Abasi Adeyemi.

Adeyemi has been charged with reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm in the city, illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, illegal possession of ammunition, having a loaded handgun on his person, illegally concealing a dangerous weapon, possession of firearms and controlled dangerous substances, and possession controlled dangerous substances other than cannabis. He was ordered held without bail.

The man who fled was identified as 32-year-old David Gray. He was arrested at an area motel Wednesday morning.

Gray was charged with first-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a loaded handgun on person, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony. Gray was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he is currently being held.

Frederick Police are handling the criminal investigation, and Montgomery County Police will conduct an internal investigation into the police officers use of force.
