Student who assaulted staff member will be charged
Frederick, Md. (DG) – A fight that broke out at Gov. Thomas Johnson high school on Wednesday afternoon injured a staff member.
According to a Facebook post from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the fight broke out in the high school in the cafeteria around 11:30 AM. Several students were involved in the incident that began as a verbal conflict.
A school resource officer responded when the fight escalated, as well as other deputies. One student assaulted a staff member after refusing to disburse the area of the fight.
The student who assaulted the staff member will be charged, and all students involved in the fight will receive disciplinary consequences in accordance with school policy.
Some of the students involved in the fight, and adults who intervened received cuts and bruises but no serious injuries.
