Frederick County Grand Jury Indicts Four On Friday

Two defendants are charged with sex offenses involving children.

Frederick, Md (KM) Four indictments were returned on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury.

The panel charged Evan John Cain, 36, of Riverdale with child pornography offenses. Frederick Police arrested Cain in January for soliciting minors for child pornography.

Also indicted was Edwin Richard Hunt, 44, of Joppa who is charged with four counts of 2nd-degree rape, and one count each attempted 2nd-degree rape, sexual solicitation of a minor and other offenses. Authorities arrested Hunt earlier this month after a 13-year-old girl reported she had been raped by an adult. They say Hunt drove all the way from Joppa to have sex with the teenager.

The other indictments returned by the Grand Jury are:

*Logan Ronald Cornish, 19, of Frederick, Md. who is charged with five counts of 2nd-degree rape for incidents which occurred between December 27th, 2022 and January 10th, 2023.

*Keith Matthews, 31, of Oxon Hill, Md. who is charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute Cannabis; possession of cocaine; use of a firearm in drug trafficking; drug distribution with a firearm; possession of a firearm with a felony conviction; illegal possession of a firearm; having a loaded handgun in a vehicle; having a handgun in a vehicle; illegal possession of ammunition; and removing or obliterating a manufacturer’s serial number for an incident which occurred on January 14trh, 2023.

These indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled.

The State’s Attorney’s Office says indictments are charging documents alleging criminal conduct. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
