Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police have charged a suspect in connection with a shooting last month. Derrick Lynn Goines, Jr., 36, was taken into custody on Wednesday, and charged with 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a handgun and seven counts of ammunition-related offenses. He’s being held without bond.

On March 18th, 2023, officers responded to the 100 block of West All Saints Street for a man who had a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and was released.

Detectives say they were able to develop enough evidence to place charges against Goines.

Authorities say it appears the victim and the suspect were known to each other, and this was not a random act of violence.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone who has information on this incident  is asked to contact Detective Kyle Jones at 240-674-7058, or at [email protected]. Citizens call the Department’s Crime Tip Line  at 301-600-TIPS {8477}. They can remain anonymous.
