Hagerstown, Md (KM)( A Frederick man was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Washington County.
State Police say Anthony Matthew Ruff, 23, was a passenger in a Honda Civic which was traveling along the area of 13115 Greencastle Pike at around 4:00 AM. . Troopers say for unknown reasons, the Civic ran off the roadway and struck a fence.
Ruff was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver identified as Zachary Jordan Fitzwater, 23, of Gettysburg, fled the scene on foot, but was located.
Greencastle Pike was shut down while troopers conducted an accident investigation. State Police say alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
The crash remains under investigation, and anyone who has information which could help is asked to contact the State Police Barrack in Hagerstown at 301-766-3800.
