Frederick, Md (KM) A New Market man is charged with ten counts of possession of child pornography. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says Carlos Javier Guzman Cruz, 34, was taken into custody on Tuesday at his home in the 10300 block of Quilllback Street.
Authorities say they received cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children last year. . From there, detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Section worked with the Frederick County Cyber Crimes Task Force to build a case against Guzman Cruz. Investigators determined that he downloaded numerous images and videos depicting child exploitation and child sexual abuse.
In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office says these images of child sexual abuse material and exploitation of children are often shared on the internet,. and that means these child victims suffer being victims again each time the images of their sexual abuse is viewed.
Guzman Cruz was apprehended without incident.
