Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Chambersburg, Pennsylvania man with one count of child porn solicitation, two counts of the sale of obscene materials to minors, and three counts sexual solicitation of a minor. Ronald Laman, 56, was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities say a detective with the Internet Crimes Against Children Section was doing an on-line investigation posing as a 13-years-old girl. On April 20th, the detective began a conversation with Laman through a cellular messaging system. Even though the detective informed Laman that he was speaking with a 13-year-old child, Laman continued to talk about soliciting for numerous sex acts He said he would be coming to Frederick “ASAP” to engage in sexual acts.
He was arrested after showing up at an agreed upon location.
Laman is currently being held without bond.
“I am proud of the work these detectives put into this investigation,”: says Lt. Andrew Crone, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Section Commander, in a statement. . “Our investigators work tirelessly to identify and apprehend those targeting and victimizing the most vulnerable groups in our community, our children. Our agency makes these offenses a top priority and we are thankful for the detectives and community partners that dedicate themselves to fighting child exploitation.”
The Sheriff’s Office says part of the duties of its Internet Crimes Against Children Section is to conduct on line investigations regrading the solicitation of minors through mobile applications, websites and various other technologies.
