Frederick Man Charged In Fatal Crash Last Year

He was taken into custody this week.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal crash last year involving a motorcycle. Ja’Kwon Howard, 23, of Frederick was indicted by the Grand Jury on April 21st, 2023 for criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle, and causing life-threatening injury by vehicle.

Police say on Thursday, October 6th, 2022, officers were sent to the area of Hillcrest Drive and Consett Place for a two-vehicle crash. They say a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle traveling south on Hillcrest Drive collided with a Ford F150 truck. The motorcycle went off the road and struck two pedestrians waiting at a bus stop. One of them, Ana Julia Escobar, 76, of Frederick who was pronouned dead at the scene.

Police say an investigation determined Howard was the operator of the motorcycle. He was arrested Wednesday, May 3rd, by Frederick Police and taken to the Adult Detention Center for processing.
