Racial Equity Committee Being Formed As Part Of Frederick County Board Of Education

The deadline for committee members to apply is May 26.

Frederick, Md. (BW)- The Frederick County Board of Education is looking for students, parents and community members to become part of it’s new Racial Equity Committee.

The role of this group will be to help the Board of Education identify, bring awareness to, and eliminate discrimination, harrassment and racial inequity from the Frederick County school system.

According to Frederick County Public School’s facebook page, individuals encouraged to apply include those with an emphasis on diversity based on people of color, Special Education students, students eligible for free or reduced meals and English learners.

The creation of this committee was approved in June of 2019.

Members of the group will be appointed at the Board of Education meeting on June 14.

The deadline to apply is May 26.
