Fiery Crash On I-70 In Washington County Kills 57-Year-Old Woman

Accident happened around 3 AM Saturday morning


Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – A fiery crash on I-70 in Washington County claimed the life of a 57-year-old woman early Saturday July 8, 2023.

According to a press release from Maryland State Police, troopers responded to I-70 near Route 632 for a single vehicle accident at around 3:30 AM.

Investigators report the driver of a Lexus was traveling westbound on I-70 near Downsville Pike, when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled through the median, overturned and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of I-70. The vehicle then caught on fire.

The driver and only occupant, Nestorine Tchamewe Boh-Kangoum, of Hedgesville, WV, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to call 301-766-3800.
