A federal judge has denied that request.
Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins will not be getting his handguns back anytime soon. A federal judge on Wednesday denied Jenkins’ request to amend his conditions of release so he could get his two department-issued firearms returned to him.. US Magistrate Judge Beth Gesner said Jenkins offered no new arguments that circumstances have changed that would allow him to have his handguns back.
Jenkins and local businessman Robert Krop were indicted in April on five federal charges of conspiracy and making false statements to acquire machine guns. Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
One of the conditions of their release was to surrender any firearms they possessed.
Jenkins argued that he needs his firearms back, saying that he had received threats of injury and death during his years as Sheriff.
