Teen Drowns in Virginia Lake

No One Saw Him Go Under


Cross Junction, VA (LR) — The drowning of a Sterling, Virginia teenager is believed to be accidental.

The Frederick County, Virginia sheriff’s office says that 19-year-old Edil Borjes-Garcia was last seen in the waters of Lake Holiday around 7:00 p.m. Saturday. A call to the county emergency services center was made about an hour later, when Borjes-Garcia could not be found.

The sheriff’s office says that the teen knew how to swim, and no one saw any signs of struggle.

Divers looked for Borjes-Garcia into the early morning hours of Sunday. They found his body just before noon on Sunday. It was submerged in about 10 feet of water.

Investigators say there are no signs of foul play.

Lake Holiday is a 249 acre manmade lake surrounded by a private residential community near Cross Junction, in northwestern Frederick County, Virginia.
