Clarksburg, Md (KM) Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal, two-vehicle crash in Frederick County Wednesday morning.
At around 5:30 AM, troopers from the Frederick Barrack responded to the area of Green Valley Road (Md. 75) in Clarksburg for the accident. Authorities say a trash truck was stopped in the northbound lanes of Green Valley Road while Jose Gomes, 55, of Hagerstown, and Jose Flores Sanchez, 28, of Gaithersburg, were outside retrieving garbage cans. A Subaru operated by Osman Perez Mollo, 53, of Oxon Hill struck Gomes and the rear of the trash truck.
Gomes was taken by ambulance to Frederick Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Sanchez and Mollo were not hurt and remained on the scene.
The State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation. Authorities say once the investigation is completed, the Crash Team will present its findings to the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.
