Former Frederick Alderman Running For School Board

Frederick, Md (KM) Another candidate has decided to run for the Frederick County Board of Education in 2024.    Former City Alderman Jose Bokee filed to run with the State Board of Elections on Friday, December 8th..

The only other candidate so far from the School Board in 2024 is Jaime Brennan, the local chair of Moms for Liberty.

Bokee was a member of the Board of Aldermen from 2013 to 2017, and currently serves as executive director of a non-profit which supports broadband access. He is married to Alderwoman Katie Nash.

Incumbent Board of Education members David Bass and Jason Johnson have said they will not seek re-election; and former School Board President Sue Johnson has said she probably will not run for a second term.

Jason Johnson, also known as “Mr. J,” has filed to run for the 6th District Congressional seat in the general election only.

The 2024 Maryland primary election is scheduled for May 14th. The general election will be held on November 5th.
