Woman Shot and Killed By Estranged Husband In Frederick County At Grocery Store

UPDATE-

After tracking the suspect from the homicide at the Giant in Urbana, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies successfully located Frederick Owusu Sakyi, age 33, of Walkersville, Maryland, and arrested him without incident. Deputies completed a quick check of his vehicle and observed a handgun on the front seat and an assault rifle on the back seat.

The victim of the shooting is Tenisha Butler, age 33, from Frederick. FCSO deputies made all next of kin notifications.

The initial investigation found that Sakyi was the estranged husband of the victim and that they are currently going through a divorce. Additionally, there is a history of protective orders and stalking by Sakyi of Butler.

Deputies transported Sakyi to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for booking.

The Urbana shopping center where the Giant is located is now back open to the public.

Frederick, MD. (DG) – The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting at a grocery store in Urbana.

Shortly after 11 PM on Saturday January 6, 2024, deputies responded to the Giant located at 3530 Sugarloaf Parkway for reports of shooting.

When police arrived they found a woman dead.

Detectives are conducting a thorough investigation of this fatality.
