Frederick County Court House

Frederick, Md (KM) A Monrovia man charged in a child abuse case entered a plea on Friday in Frederick County Circuit Court.  The State’s Attorney’s Office says Jason Michael Colley, 43, entered an alford plea to the charge of 2nd-degree assault. That means he doesn’t admit guilt, but acknowledges the state has enough evidence for a conviction.

Circuit Court Judge Julia Martz-Fisher scheduled  sentencing for June 17th, 2024 .   He remains incarcerated at the County Adult Detention Center.

Colley was arrested last year following an investigation into child abuse  by the Maryland State Police, Child Protective Services and the State’s Attorney’s Office.

In a separate incident, Colley was sentenced in 2022 to eight years of home detention following the death of his six-month-old infant daughter.
