Jones Appointed Manager Of The Frederick Keys

He will skipper the team during the 2024 baseball season.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick Keys have a new manager. Jacque Jones has been chosen for the position. He’s the fourth manager of the Keys since the team joined the Major League Baseball Draft League.

“I’m so excited,” Jones, 48,  says in a statement. “It’s my first time managing. I’m excited being in a familiar setting. I’m looking forward to everything and being in a championship game this year after falling short last year. Looking forward to having a small hand in trying to further these young guys’ careers.”

Jones served as the Keys’ hitting coach and the team hit .278 in  the 2023  season and produced almost 400 RBI’s.

Jones has played Major League baseball for the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and the Florida Marlins.

He began his coaching career in 2012 as the hitting coach for the San Diego Padres’ Class A Affiliate, the Fort Wayne TinCaps.  He was promoted to Double A in 2013 as the hitting coach for the San Antonio Missions.  In 2014, he got another promotion to Triple A with the El Paso Chihuahuas. . He reached the Major Leagues as Assistant Hitting Coach with the Washington Nationals in  2016. .

Jones replaces Rene Rivera who headed up the Keys during the 2023 season.
