Fire Destroys Church In Carroll County

The flames caused the roof to collapse.;

Westminster, Md (KM) The origin and cause of a church fire in Carroll County Thursday afternoon are  under investigation.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the two-alarm fire was discovered at around 3:00 PM at the Clearfiled Bible Church at 1303 Old Westminster Road by an employee who was inside when the fire broke out. . She was able to get out.

Fire fighters from the Reese Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to the scene. They were followed by the career staff of Carroll County Fire and EMS, and units from Baltimore, Howard and York Counties. The fire spread quickly, causing the roof and several walls to collapse. Personnel spent two hours bringing the flames under control.

One fire fighter was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Excavators assisted in moving heavy debris.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating.
