The officers were place on administrative leave; the suspect is still in the hospital.
Frederick, Md (KM) The names of the police officers and the suspect involved in a Friday morning shooting at the Super Eight Motel on Monocacy Boulevard in Frederick have been released. They are Corporal Alex Mendez of the Sheriff’s Office, and Officer Connor Walsteban of the Frederick Police Department. Both have eight years of experience with their respective departments.
The two fired their weapons at the suspect identified as Jack Edgar Primmer, 45, of Freedom, Pennsylvania. He remains at the Shock Trauma in Baltimore in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Office says the two were with several other officers who were attempting to apprehend Primmer who’s wanted in Beaver County, Pennsylvania for child sexual assault and abuse charges. They located him in his motel room, but he refused to come out and said he had a gun. The situation turned into a standoff and then escalated to a point where shots were fired, and Primmer was struck.
Primmer was treated at the scene by police officers and then by medics who took over. He was medivaced to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. .
The two officers were placed on administrative leave.
The Sheriff’s Office says no other law enforcement officers or guests at the Super Eight Motel were injured.
The Maryland State Police are investigating this incident.
