Frederick Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting

He was taken into custody following a traffic stop.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police have charged a suspect for a fatal shooting late Friday night. Elijah Stephen Mboss, 22,  of Frederick, was taken into custody, charged with 1st- and 2nd-degree murder.

Authorities say at around 11:45 PM, they responded to the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive for a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers administered medical care until medics arrived. The man was transported to Frederick Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During the course of their investigation, police say they noticed a vehicle near the scene of the crime, traveling at a high rate of speed. It was pulled over after the driver ran a stop sign. Authorities say evidence was found inside the vehicle linking the driver identified as Mboss to the shooting investigation. He was arrested and taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation into this homicide continues.
