Two Frederick Police Offices Injured Trying To Arrest A Suspect

They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police say two of their officers were injured Tuesday night while trying to arrest a domestic violence suspect.

At 8:00 PM, the two officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive for the domestic incident. They were also provided with a description of the suspect identified as Marcus Deandre Taylor, 36 who fled the scene. He was located, and gave officers a false name. . As they tried to take Taylor into custody, the two police officers were assaulted. Backup officers were called out. They located Taylor and took him into custody without incident.

Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the scene.. They took the two injured officers to Frederick Health Hospital. Police say one has a dislocated shoulder; the other has a broken thumb. Both will be on restricted duty until they recover from their injuries.

Taylor is charged with numerous offenses, including burglary, assault, theft and resisting arrest. He’s  also wanted on two outstanding Taylor is currently being held without bond.

In a statement, Police Chief Jason Lando said. “Every day, our officers place themselves in harms’ way to keep this city safe. Tonight, two of those officers were assaulted by a suspect who chose to fight and flee rather than surrender peacefully.  Because of Mr. Taylor’s actions, these offices will be off the street for several weeks while they recover from their injuries. Thankfully, we were able to take Taylor into custody quickly before he could injure anyone else. I look forward to seeing Mr. Taylor held accountable for his actions this evening, and wish both of my offices a speedy recovery.”

Chief Lando also acknowledged the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police for their assistance last night.
