Detectives Investigate Commercial Burglary and ATM Theft in Germantown

Suspects forced entry into the store by backing a 16-passenger van through the store window.

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a burglary that occurred on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Shell Gas Station in the 21000 block of Frederick Road in Germantown. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

At approximately 4:59 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the location for the report of a commercial burglary.

The investigation has revealed that the suspects forced entry into the store by backing a 16-passenger van through the store window. The suspects then got out, grabbed the ATM and put it in the back of the van before leaving the scene.

Detectives have reviewed the surveillance footage and obtained a description of the suspects and their vehicle.

The suspects are described as two unknown race males wearing dark clothing. The suspect vehicle is described as a white or light colored 16-passenger van, with damage to the back end. It is unknown at this time if the vehicle used by the suspects was stolen.
