Frederick Man Sentenced For Assault, Violation Of Protective Orders

He was given 13.5 years incarceration.

Frederick, Md (KM) Sentence was handed down on Monday for a Frederick man convicted of 2nd-degree assault and 17 counts of violating a protective order. Jerome Mario Britton, 45, received 13-and-a-half years in prison from Circuit Court Judge Joanie Raymond Brubaker.. Britton had been convicted those offenses on March 20th, 2025

The State’s Attorney’s Office says on September 4th 2024, Britton drove his wife to the hospital for a “toothache.” After arriving, she told hospital staff that her injuries around her eye were result of domestic violence. She said Britton who was her husband punched her in the eye with a closed fist on August 15th, 2024. That caused her to lose consciousness.

Frederick Police were called to the hospital. The victim showed law enforcement officers pictures of her injuries. Police noticed that the victim’s eyes were still swollen and bruised from the assault.

“My office takes Domestic Violence extremely seriously,” says State’s Attorney Charlie Smith is a statement. “We know how difficult it is to navigate in an abusive situation and seek help. We commend the victim for finding safety in reporting and sharing her story with the jury. We are pleased with the sentence  and feel justice was done.”

During the court proceedings on Monday, the State read the victim’s impact statement. “My children were fearful when they saw my injuries. He has no regard for the pain he caused us. We are safe now and I no longer take my safety for granted,” the statement said.
