Washington County Woman Charged With Child Abuse After In-Flight Altercation

Frederick, Md. (DG) – A Washington County woman, Kristy Crampton, 46, has been charged with felony child abuse following an incident on an Allegiant Airlines flight from Sanford-Orlando International Airport to Hagerstown, Maryland, on May 26.According to police reports, Crampton allegedly struck a boy multiple times and slammed his head against the airplane window after he called her “fat” and “Miss Piggy.”Witnesses described the behavior as abusive rather than corrective. Crampton admitted to hitting the child after taking away his phone due to ongoing misbehavior. She was arrested upon landing and released the following day on a $10,000 bond.The relationship between Crampton and the boy has not been disclosed.
