Fatal Shooting On I-70 In Frederick County Under Investigation

A 20-year-old was shot and killed

Frederick, Md. (DG) – The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday night on Interstate 70 in Frederick County. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Eduardo Alexander Alvarado Urrea of Silver Spring. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened around 11:55 p.m. on June 14. Troopers responded to a report of a shooting on eastbound I-70 near Maryland Route 27. At the scene, police found a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck and six occupants, including Urrea. The driver was taken to a trauma center with gunshot wounds. Another passenger declined medical treatment, while three others were unharmed.

According to investigators, the victims were fired upon by another vehicle shortly after leaving an event at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage from eastbound I-70 between 11:30 p.m. and midnight to contact the Frederick Barrack.

The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from multiple state and local agencies.
