Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department says almost 10,912 sharps and 45 pounds of unwanted or expired medications were turned in during a recent drug disposal event on Saturday, June 21st. The drug take back day was held in cooperation with the Brunswick Police Department.
During a drug disposal event in late April, 100 residents turned in almost 200 pounds of unwanted or expired medications, and 10,000 sharps at two collection sites, the Health Department says.
“We are thankful for our partnership with the Brunswick Police Department for their support of this disposal event and being able to hostĀ this event,” says Andrea Walker, Director and Chief Public Health Strategist within the Behavior Health Serviced Division of the Frederick County Health Department. “This cooperation helps to ensure all areasĀ of within Frederick County have access to safe disposal options of unwanted or expired medications.”
