Frederick Health Hospital Emergency Department Receives Award

It was recognized for its efforts to reduce turnaround time for local EMS personnel.Frederick Health HospitalFrederick, Md (KM) The Maryland Star of Life Executive Directors Award was presented recently to the Frederick Health Hospital.    Officials from  the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems came to hospital on Wednesday, June 25th to present the honor. It recognizes the efforts of the hospital to reduce turnaround time for local EMS personnel.On hand for the event was Chief Tom Coe of Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services. “We have an amazing partnership with Frederick Health Hospital,”  he said. “Their staff, nurses and doctors and technicians do a great job of quickly receiving our EMS patients and minimizing our on-cot time as we bring patients into the emergency department.”Dr. Amit Chandra, the Chair of Emergency Medicine at FHH, agrees. “We have a wonderful partnership out here in the county with our medics. And so the ability to off-load them and get them out to see the next patent is mission-critical for us as well because we have the shared mission to get everybody cared quickly,” he said.Jessica Pecor is the Director of Adult Emergency Services and Pediatric Combined Services at Frederick Health Hospital. “We try to foster an environment where EMS’ top priority is to get them off the cot and get them back into the street to take care of the community we all serve,” she says.The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems oversees and coordinates all components to the EMS systems  in the state.By Kevin McManus
