It’s hosted by the local Chamber of Commerce.
Frederick, Md (KM) A celebration of the strength, heart and equality of women in Frederick County is how the Chamber of Commerce’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Shelby Maly, describes SHE Week taking place between August 4th and August 8th.
Maly says participation is varied. “It’s really a variety of people, anybody from an entrepreneur all the way to C-Suite level. It’s anybody and everybody,” she says.
“This year we are embracing momentum,” she adds. “Moving forward with that and using the energy to propel women into their next chapter, whatever that means for them.”
One of the events is Conference Day which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5th at the Clarion Inn from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. “We have a variety keynotes {speakers} lined up. We have a variety of panels lined up; and just other activities. And really networking opportunities for women to get to know each other and then we’ll have some other activities which go on through the day,” say Maly
Another activity is the SHE Pitch on Wednesday, August 6th from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Hodson Auditorium at Hood College. Maly says women who have an idea for a new business, or plans to expand their current operations can make a pitch for funding. “They’ll pitch to a live panel of judges, plus everybody in the audience. And then the judges will decide on winners, and they get funding. Each of the winners in the idea stage and the growth stage get $5,000,” she says.
This is the seventh annual SHE Week hosted by the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. “Last year was our biggest year, and last year we had over 250 women in attendance. So we are hoping to have that same amount of people this year,” says Maly. Or more, perhaps, she says.
