But they will continue to urge the White House to issue a Presidential disaster declaration following May floods.

Washington DC (KM) The Maryland Congressional Delegation continues to push for the Trump Administration to issue a presidential disaster declaration for Western Maryland.
Washington, Allegany and Garrett Counties were hit hard by flooding in May. The disaster declaration would release funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to reimburse the costs of emergency response during and after the flooding, and complete the necessary repairs for damaged infrastructure and facilities.
While waiting for a possible declaration, Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks along with Sixth District Representative April McClain Delaney urge farmers in the western half of the state to apply for assistance from the US Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency Farm Emergency Loan Program.
“What I saw in the immediate aftermath of the floods in Mountain Maryland stayed with me. Neighbors coming together, digging out each other’s homes, showing incredible strength and solidarity in the face of devastation. The faming community didn’t just lose crops and property; they faced a deep personal loss. While the USDA’s Emergency Farm Loan Program offers important immediate relief, we urgently need the Trump Administration to approve Maryland’s request for a presidential disaster declaration. Our farmers and residents deserve nothing less than swift and comprehensive assistance as they work to restore their livelihoods and communities,” says Representative McClain Delaney, in a statement.
