Thurmont Man Charged With Sexual Solicitation Of A Minor

He was arrested following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

Frederick, Md (KM) A Thurmont man is charged with three counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, three counts distribution of obscene material to a minor and two counts of solicitation of child pornography. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says Travis Peters, 27, was arrested on Wednesday. He’s currently being held on a no-bond status at the Adult Detention Center.

Peters’ arrest follows an investigation conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit which received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the sexual solicitation of a minor. Peters was developed as a suspect, the Sheriff’s Office says. .

Detectives say they executed a search warrant at Peters’ home in the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue where they found numerous electronic devices. They were confiscated and each will undergo forensic analysis.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a part of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, works with the Frederick County Cyber Crimes Task Force to investigate, apprehend and prosecute sexual predators who exploit children through the internet and technology. These methods are consistent with Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force standards and procedures, the Sheriff’s Office says.

Authorities say this remains an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives are working to identity other victims that Peters may have communicated with.  Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office. They can call Detective Staub at 301-600-1046.
