Authorities say it will help reduce the number of impaired drivers.
Westminster, Md (KM) Some law enforcement agencies are setting up a sobriety checkpoint in Carroll County this weekend, August, 30th, 2025.. The Sheriff’s Office says the purpose is promote awareness and reduce the number of impaired drivers with the goal of keeping county roads safe for residents and travelers.
The location of the checkpoint is not being disclosed, but authorities say it will be marked with lights, signs and uniformed police officers.
The Sheriff’s Office is participating in this effort along with the Maryland State Police, and the Hampstead, Sykesville, Mount Airy and Westminster Police Departments.
These traffic checkpoints conducted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office are part of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign, and are funded in part by a grant from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office.,
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, traffic crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for Maryland residents. Authorities urge motorists to drive sober, obey the speed limit, wear a seatbelt and eliminate distractions. If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 911.
