Officials say they want to make sure the dog is in good health.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department says it’s looking for the owner of a dog who bit a person on Saturday afternoon, September 13, 2025. .
At around 4:30 PM, an individual was bitten on the hand by a dog at the intersection of East 6th Street and Maxwell Avenue. The canine is described as a large, black, short-haired, animal, possibly a Lab mix. There was a man and a woman with the dog at the time of the bite.
If you have information about this dog, you’re asked to contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
When the owner is contacted the dog will need to be verified as in good health ten days after the incident, and the person bitten will not have to undergo expensive rabies treatment. If the owner is not contacted, the individual who was bitten will be advised to get treatment.
The Health Department says if someone you know, or if a pet has been scratched or bitten by animal, contact Animal Control at 301-600-1544. If the animal is wildlife, consult with your pet’s veterinarian, or, if applicable, call Environmental Health Services at 301-600-1717,
