It will be held on Friday, Oct. 17th.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Health Department is holding a second flu vaccination clinic this fall for uninsured children. It will take place on Friday, October 17th at the Health Department offices at 350 Montevue Lane from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM..
The shots are free, but families need to call ahead and make appointments. They can call 301-600-1733.
The Health Department says the clinic is open to children up to age 18 who do not have health insurance, or their insurance doesn’t cover vaccinations. It’s also for children who are unable to be vaccinated by the health care provider.
The vaccination clinic is being held on a day that Frederick County Public Schools are closed.
If coming to the clinic, the Health Department says children 17 years of age or under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Parents or guardians that can’t come with their children to the clinic must send a written note with the adult bringing their children their kids have authorization to be vaccinated. All vaccinated children are required to remain at the clinic for observation.
Those most susceptible for the flu and its complications are children younger than five years of age; people 65 years of age or older; pregnant women; people with health issues such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease; and people who take medications that weaken their immune system such as chemotherapy..
