Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a town house fire over the weekend. Sarah Campbell with Fire and Rescue Services say at this time, the damage to al three town houses is estimated at $600,000. She says the fire is believed to have originated in the basement area.
Early Sunday morning at around 12:51, fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to the 1600 block of Jennings Court in Frederick for a town house on fire. When they arrived, personnel reported heavy fire from the middle town house, and a second alarm was requested bringing additional fire fighters to the scene.
Crews spent their time working on knocking the fire, and checking the two adjoining town houses where the fire had spread. Fire and Rescue officials say the middle building on fire collapsed.
One person was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but refused transport.
Five adults and four children were displaced by the fire. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Campbell says the occupants of the two adjoining town houses can’t go back into their homes just yet.
